The Master's Collection
Our first update to the Lightsaber Database is a very special one.
Tim visited Nick Gillard, the stunt coordinator and sword master of the Star Wars prequels, back in 2017. There he had the chance to photograph and try out Nick's collection of original lightsabers used in the films. Since then Nick has auctioned off most of this collection, so it was one of the last chances to see all the stunt and hero props together.
Our new Lightsaber Database is the perfect place to make these photos accessible to everyone. Enjoy reading!

The Lightsaber Database is here
Even though today we're mostly out and about at events as a show group, our roots lie in collecting lightsabers. Without a shared interest in Master Replicas replicas, Timo, Alex and Tim would never have found each other almost 20 years ago.
True to our motto “Everything about lightsabers” , our website has always had lots of content, especially about FX lightsabers and how to mod them. But the scene has changed: the range of custom and film replicas is more diverse today than ever, and over time our content simply became outdated.
That's why, almost ten years ago, we came up with the idea of a lightsaber database: a reference work that gathers as much information about lightsabers as possible in one place. Some ideas take time, and now it's here: the first version of our new Lightsaber Database is online!
On board is our new mascot Professor Huyang , the keeper of lightsaber knowledge. At launch you'll find all the lightsabers of the main characters of the Skywalker Saga. Each info page offers matching screenshots from the films, complemented by image galleries and reviews of well-known manufacturers: our "vintage" content from the last two decades.
But this is only the beginning. In the future you can look forward to:
- More lightsabers from movies and series
Sequels, spin-offs, books and comics will also find their place. - Custom lightsabers
We'll show our own designs, and you can send us your projects! With a link if you like. This section is mainly meant as inspiration for your own designs. - Behind the Scenes
Here we collect photos and videos of the real film props and provide background info, ideal for anyone who wants to build particularly screen-accurate replicas.
Lightsaber duels will also play a role in the future, there's more in the works here.
We'll put more energy into our website again and provide you with everything a lightsaber fan's heart desires.
And now, off to the Database! Professor Huyang is already waiting!
Special thanks go to our friends at the Jedi-Bibliothek, who let us take a look behind the scenes and whose knowledge we used for our database. Visit them to learn everything about Star Wars literature (in German)!

The Intern Awakens turns 10
On May 5, 2015, our most successful YouTube video to date went online: our short film THE INTERN AWAKENS
10 years later it has over 5 million views and a sequel. We're happy that the film is still so well received! Thank you so much for your support over the last 10 years, watch it again with us:
You can keep watching too, because almost three and a half years ago the interns' latest adventure in the Toy Palace warehouse came out. Even though Toy Palace no longer exists, that doesn't mean the interns' story is over.
Tim also had a small cameo as an intern in a video with Nilz Bokelberg at the end of 2015, feel free to watch the video by Ghostpictures:

19 years of Saberproject and a community
Today we're celebrating our 19th anniversary and have a great collaboration to announce.
Spending almost two decades in the Star Wars fandom as a fan club and still experiencing new things is not something we take for granted, and we're grateful for everything we get to experience online and offline.
What started as a simple website with a few lightsaber reviews has grown further than our four founders ever imagined back then. We're especially happy about how many different lightsaber clubs and enthusiasts there are now, who share the same joy in our hobby as we do, and some of whom were even inspired by us.
By now there's a sizable group of lightsaber fans in the fandom, and we want to keep doing our part to move it forward.
At events we already team up with many friendly clubs and are always happy about their support. Now it's time to look a little beyond our own horizon.
In STRAIGHT OUTTA RIM , lots of lightsaber fans have come together on Discord and Facebook over the last four years to talk about every aspect, from collecting and building lightsabers to workshops, shows and videos.
That's where the things we enjoy happen too, and we want to support that.So today we can announce a partnership and invite you to become part of the community! We'll use our know-how, our contacts and our experience to make the already great community even bigger.
Through the Discord server we want to create opportunities for community meetups and exclusive offers for events, and at the same time offer a platform for showing off your own creations, whether photos or videos.
Behind the scenes we're working on lots of things so we can offer more lightsaber content on our own homepage again. Our 20th year is going to be an exciting one!So check out STRAIGHT OUTTA RIM – by SABERPROJECT, the German lightsaber community on Discord and Facebook!
