Science Fiction Meeting 2019
28 September 2019 @ 8:00 am – 29 September 2019 @ 5:00 pm
For the 12th time, the Technik Museum Speyer opened its gates for fans and cosplayers of all galaxies and epochs. During this last September-weekend fiction met reality.
The scenery of the Technik Museum, with its aircraft, submarines, and cars of many epochs, still amazes us after all those years. For that reason, we are happy to return to this amazing location every year.
Like last year we had our new booth with us where we informed about our hobby, took pictures with other Star Wars Fans and even sold some lightsabers.
Our youngest member, Johanna, organized a Quiz for this year's event, where participants were able to test their knowledge about star wars or our team and win great prizes.
With all of those possibilities at our booth and the great atmosphere in Speyer, we’re always having a lot of fun!
Aside from our booth we also presented our new show. We were rehearsing it since Easter and could finally show it on the big stage in "Hangar 10". But for the first time in our team's history, we had a big malfunction during one of the shows on Sunday.
We've had some mishaps before, Tim, for example, lost a part of his tooth when a saber hit him in the face a few years ago. But since the show was able to just carry on the audience didn't notice anything. This time, however, the slip-up couldn't be covered up. Midway through our program the sound just went mute. No dialogue, no sound effects, no music, and no lightsaber sounds. While the protagonists on stage were trying to bypass the silent gap, Stefan, over at the technical desk was almost panicking. Tim however knew exactly how to bypass the 10 Minute break: he got the audience to hum the lightsaber sounds.
The show was able to continue after Stefan found the cause of our problem. Luckily all other shows of the weekend went well.
Like every year, we look back at a really fun event. The Sci-Fi-days are an established date in our calendar. Some people we only meet once a year in Speyer and we hope to be able to visit the event alongside other fangroups in many years to come.
A big thank you to all visitors of our booth that took pictures in front of our photo wall!
