20 Years of Saberproject

11 April All day

Saberproject has turned 20! On April 11, 2026, we celebrated at Outpost One in Dassow with many partners, friends and companions. What started as a website has kept evolving over the years. Today we look back on a great and fulfilling time full of experiences and impressions, in which we've now played a proud total of almost 300 shows and been part of around 100 events.

When our founders set out on this journey with an uncertain outcome in 2006, there were four of them; today we're at 26 members and seven honorary members. So we've grown quite a bit over the last 20 years. One reason may be the many highlights that hold a special place in our memories and hearts: for example, great collaborations with Disney, Lucasfilm and Hasbro. And that's not all: in 2013 we got to be part of Star Wars Celebration Europe, and three years later we met Nick Gillard at our 10th anniversary.

So there was plenty of reason to celebrate, and that's what we did: together with 150 people, we threw the party at what is probably the most fitting and impressive Star Wars location there is. Of course a tour through Outpost One couldn't be missing either. We got to dive into a galaxy far, far away and travel to the many locations of this great universe. Along the way we encountered lots of familiar characters and full-size spaceships, authentic replicas and atmospheric dioramas. With great caution we walked through the Death Star and met Han Solo, C-3PO and Luke Skywalker, from there it was on to Echo Base on Hoth and to Jabba's palace on Tatooine.

On this special day, three new members were welcomed right away: Myleen and Marco are now part of the team, and Florian Clyde (among others the German voice of young Han Solo) is now an honorary member, as thanks for his support around our shows.

But wherever we are, lightsaber combat can't be missing, of course, so some of us were outside with members of various friendly fan clubs, fighting with their lightsabers, spinning or teaching each other a trick or two. When it got dark, the glowing sabers were impossible to miss and created a colorful atmosphere in which we once again felt how much the Star Wars universe brings people together.

We look back with gratitude on 20 years of team history, filled with formative encounters, exciting events, funny moments and a shared love for an elegant weapon like no other. At the same time, we also look ahead with some ambitions and are determined to keep developing and growing in the future.

Thank you for joining us on this journey!
