As a thank-you for developing the Saberproject Surround system Stefan got to pick a lightsaber of his own. In winter 2013/2014 he designed his personal hilt, which Markus brought to life in the following weeks with unique internals.
The goal was a combat-ready lightsaber with an integrated crystal chamber. Innovative ideas went into it, such as a hidden charging port behind the Covertec or the option to unscrew the blade holder using a jack plug. Threaded rods were used to firmly connect the 3D-printed chassis parts and the crystal chamber.
The Curiador is a true rarity among lightsabers: with its distinctive blue color and special construction, it is rarely seen at events. In Stefan’s collection, however, it holds a special place, as a reminder of his beginnings with Team Saberproject and of a curious journey.
Making-of sketches
Stefan and Markus put a lot of thought into the design of the crystal chamber. At the time of the build, there were no 3D printers yet.
