Back to the lightsaber

Note: Vintage review – this review is from an earlier version of our homepage and is correspondingly old!

First impression
Of course, the first thing you notice is the thick „neck“, but this FX lightsaber still looks very high quality, if only because of the ribbed black grip and the gold neck.
The saber is very nicely made and comes quite close to the original; only the neck is thicker than average, just like on the Luke ROTJ.

Handling
This MR saber runs on 3 AA batteries and is therefore lighter than those that run on 6 AA batteries, such as the Mace Windu ROTS.
However, it's quite heavy and very head-heavy.
Thanks to the dish-shaped emitter, the saber still sits very well in the hand and is suitable for all tricks.

Light and sound
The blue blade glows very brightly, even brighter than the Anakin ROTS lightsaber.
You can see the difference in daylight.
The sound module is the same as in the Anakin ROTS, but because of the different resonance of the hilts, the Obi-Wan ROTS sounds much higher or brighter, not as aggressive and loud as the Anakin.

Wear
There are no wear parts on this saber worth mentioning.
Overall it's very robust, since for example there are no protruding parts on the hilt that could get damaged if it's dropped.

Verdict
The Obi-Wan Kenobi FX lightsaber is a very nice piece from Master Replicas, ideal for beginners because it's easy to grip.
For collectors, however, this saber will probably be a second choice, since the thick neck doesn't look very screen-accurate.
Another plus, though, is the very bright blade. Due to its strong head-heaviness, however, this saber feels very heavy in the hand.

Is the archive incomplete?

Even though we put a lot of work into the content ourselves, we don’t know everything and don’t own every lightsaber.
