Mace Windu ROTS

If this is your first mod, we recommend taking a look at the modding help page.

Disassembly

1. First, unscrew the pommel ring and remove the battery holder.

2. Then unscrew the covertec wheel with an Allen key.

3. Opposite the covertec wheel there's a recessed Allen screw; unscrew it.

4. Now the rear section and the gold ring can be taken off in one piece.

5. Now remove the iron ring that holds the battery holder compartment in the saber. To do this, remove the two gold pins. It's best to tap them out with a hammer and a pin punch. Then you can take out the ring and the compartment.

6. Next, remove the three Allen screws sitting in three of the twelve holes in the emitter. Then the emitter, along with a rubber ring and a plastic ring, can simply be taken off.

7. Now pry off the gold plate on the activator.

8. And right after that, the plastic plate underneath. This takes a lot of patience, since this plate must not be damaged.

9. Then remove the screw under the rubber mat. To do this, carefully and slowly pry off the rubber with a flat object and unscrew the screw that appears.

10. Then you can slide all the electronics out of the back of the hilt.

11. Finally, unscrew the screws that hold the soundboard chassis together. This lets you take off the blade too and simply pull out the LED strip with its mount.

Working on the blade holder

12. Pull the plug that powers the LED strip off the soundboard.

13. Now cut the chassis straight as shown in the photos, to make room for the metal blade holder. Feel free to cut a little generously. You can get the blade holder either from the Custom Saber Shop or from JQ-Sabers.

Soldering

14. Next, glue the LED onto the heatsink and solder it.

15. Shorten the wires on the plug a little and then wire them as follows:

Assembly

16. Then put the lens with the lens holder onto the LED.

17. Now slide the heatsink with the LED, lens and lens holder into the blade holder and screw it tight.

18. Finally, slide all the internals back into the saber and reassemble it by following steps 1 to 11 in reverse order.
