Back to the lightsaber

Note: Vintage review – this review is from an earlier version of our homepage and is correspondingly old!

First impression
The Obi-Wan looks really good.
The slim design in particular stands out right away. The hilt is nicely made and comes very close to the original.

Handling
No other FX lightsaber from Master Replicas or Hasbro has a diameter as thin as the Obi-Wan TPM.
All tricks can be done effortlessly and are particularly fun, since the handling and balance are simply perfect.
However, the pommel or pommel ring can get in the way because of its protruding parts and make your hands hurt a bit during some tricks.
Unfortunately, the activator sits right in the palm of your hand (similar to the Mace Windu), and accidentally switching it on or off is unavoidable.

Light and sound
Due to the longer pommel and its construction, the sound is a bit quieter but identical to the usual Jedi sounds. Brightness and luminosity are satisfactory, as with all other models.
The saber runs on three AAA batteries.

Wear
With frequent use, the activator becomes very loose, which leads to switching it on and off even more often. Otherwise, no wear is known so far.
Note:
The blade is at risk of breaking! The blade holder is very poorly designed, since the blade doesn't sit very deep in it. So it can break even with light strikes.

Verdict
Hasbro's Obi-Wan TPM FX lightsaber is one of the best sabers in terms of looks and handling.
It's ideal for learning and demonstrating all kinds of tricks, but because of the risk of the blade breaking, it's definitely no good for show fights. Overall, though, it's a must for any collector or Star Wars fan.

Is the archive incomplete?

Even though we put a lot of work into the content ourselves, we don’t know everything and don’t own every lightsaber.
