Description

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s bladed lightsaber from George Lucas‘ Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Kenobi used his signature lightsaber in combat throughout the film, notably in his face-off with General Grievous (Matthew Wood) and most famously during his fateful duel with Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) on the fiery surface of Mustafar.

As with Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber, the design of this lightsaber links directly through to Star Wars: A New Hope, in which the older Obi-Wan (Alec Guinness) wielded a similar style of lightsaber. This lightsaber was specifically constructed for the third prequel film and features a different design to Obi-Wan’s lightsaber from the prior two Star Wars episodes. Several different styles of fighting lightsaber handles were made for McGregor in varying degrees of simplicity to aid in handling during action sequences.

This lightsaber’s resin hilt is cast around an aluminum sleeve. It consists of an upper and lower section designed to be secured together with the threaded rod from the base of the dueling blade. With its multicolor finish and chrome-plated emitter, the lightsaber is similar to the hero version of the handle prop with some notable differences: a simplified grip, no lower control box, and a widened neck below the emitter for ease of handling while filming action sequences.

This lightsaber’s green blade is made of carbon fiber, a material unique to the third prequel film, with a threaded rod installed at the lower end and a clear plastic sheath intended to prevent blade chips from causing injuries. The carbon fiber blade was necessary so that the actors could duel on set, and was digitally replaced with a glowing blue blade during visual effects work.

The lightsaber exhibits wear from use, including scuffs and scratches throughout the handle and blade, discoloration on the emitter, and minor tears in the blade’s plastic sheath. Dimensions: 49″ x 2.5″ x 2″ (125 cm x 6.5 cm x 5.25 cm)

Estimate: $50,000 – 100,000

Is the archive incomplete?

Even though we put a lot of work into the content ourselves, we don’t know everything and don’t own every lightsaber.
