First impression
The Luke ANH FX lightsaber with removable blade looks no different from the „regular“ Hasbro version.
Instead, this version of the lightsaber comes with a plug that simulates the emitter when the blade is removed, as well as a clip for wearing the saber on your belt.
Handling
As already known from the Master Replicas predecessor and Hasbro's regular version, this saber is also pleasantly light compared to other FX lightsabers. Since the center of gravity is well placed, spins and tricks are easy to do.
However, the rather sharp-edged box gets in the way – during longer training sessions it can even cause injuries.
The activator is well integrated into the box and easy to operate, but accidentally switching it off happens often.
Light and sound
The blade is lit very evenly in a nice blue, and the sounds come through the speaker loud and clear.
The three new swing sounds and the four clash sounds upgrade the new Luke ANH considerably.
Wear
This FX lightsaber has very few wear parts.
Only the chrome paint on the emitter and the box can flake off after a while, as can the paint on the glass eyes if the saber is used regularly.
The „ears“ below the emitter should also be handled with some care, since hard hits or impacts can loosen them or even break them off.
Verdict
The new features make the Luke ANH even more interesting, and it stands out with its removable blade, which lets you wear the saber on your belt.
This lightsaber is surely one of the best known and therefore shouldn't be missing from any collection.
For collectors, it's a nice complement to Darth Vader's FX lightsaber, which is also available with a removable blade.
