Back to the lightsaber

Note: Vintage review – this review is from an earlier version of our homepage and is correspondingly old!

First impression
If the packaging weren't slightly different, this saber could just as well be the Master Replicas version.
The saber didn't spend 20 years in a box on Tatooine, but it looks exactly like it does in Episode IV.

Handling
The saber's pivot point is slightly above the emitter, giving it good balance for all tricks. If you like the Anakin ROTS FX lightsaber, you'll certainly get along with this saber too.
Thanks to the matte finish, your hand is less likely to slip than with a chrome finish, for example. This can be an advantage, especially during longer training sessions.
The clamp points to the left, which can be handy for right-handers. Since the switch is above the clamp, it's not as annoying as a switch mounted on the side.

Light and sound
The blade glows a nice blue, and the sounds come through loud and clear.
Like all Jedi FX lightsabers, the Luke has 3 swing and 4 clash sounds. Nothing has changed here either, and the quality has been maintained.
Because of the different materials of the individual hilts, each saber sounds a little different, even though they're the same sounds.
Compared to the Anakin, the Luke is a bit more subtle, which comes quite close to the original sound.

Wear
Just like on the Master Replicas version, the paint on the emitter flakes off after a while.
The hilt itself can take quite a few hits, with the ears below the emitter being the weak point. They can quickly come loose or even break if the saber falls on a hard floor or takes a heavy hit.

Verdict
Certainly one of the best sabers in the FX series.
The hilt is very detailed and sits nicely in the hand, an excellent saber for beginners and advanced users alike.
So if you didn't get a Master Replicas Luke ANH, you should definitely grab this one.

Is the archive incomplete?

Even though we put a lot of work into the content ourselves, we don’t know everything and don’t own every lightsaber.
