First impression
As dark as his soul is the Episode IV Darth Vader FX lightsaber that Hasbro has brought to market.
The saber is very detailed and only differs from its 2007 Master Replicas predecessor in the lettering on the pommel ring.
Handling
Since the emitter is quite „loaded“, tricks and spins are hard to do with this saber.
The elements on the emitter and its bulky shape keep getting in the way. Still, the Darth Vader ANH FX lightsaber is well balanced. The pivot point is just above the emitter.
Light and sound
When you activate the saber, you hear the typical Sith sound, which is a bit more subtle on all Sith sabers than on the Jedi ones. It offers 4 swing sounds and 1 clash sound.
The blade glows a nice strong red and is a bit brighter than that of the other Sith sabers.
Wear
No signs of wear are known yet.
Verdict
A visually impressive saber that lets its owner practically feel the dark side.
However, it's rather unsuitable for fights, since the elements on the emitter get in the way.
That's why this Hasbro FX lightsaber is more of a display piece, where it's sure to make an impression.
