Luke Skywalker eFX Stunt Lightsaber

Note: Vintage review – this review is from an earlier version of our homepage and is correspondingly old!

This lightsaber isn't the commonly known version of Luke's lightsaber from Episode VI, but a second, lesser-known version that served as a backup saber during filming. That makes the Luke V2 an interesting piece for collectors, and it comes in an attractive black presentation box with a display stand.

Even though the saber has a nice weight of almost 500 grams and comes quite close to the original in shape and form, the Luke V2 doesn't feel very high quality. The paint job is sloppy, the weathering looks cheap, in places even just stuck on. The scattered gray spots meant to represent wear are too regular and not convincing. The saber itself has little in common with the authentic picture on the presentation box.

For costumes, eFX's Luke ROTJ V2 is a nice addition despite all its flaws. It has a D-ring, so with a matching clip it can easily be worn on your belt. Even though it's only made of resin, it has a convincing weight and feels quite robust overall, so it should survive a convention without any dings. Still, careful handling is advisable, since resin itself isn't very durable.

Although the manufacturer calls this series stunt sabers, this saber is in no way combat-ready. For one thing, no blade can be attached to the hilt, and for another, the hilt material would be too fragile to withstand fights. So it's only meant for a display case or as a costume accessory. At €120, the Luke ROTJ V2 eFX stunt saber is clearly too expensive, it doesn't look convincing in the slightest and isn't very appealing even as a display piece.

Is the archive incomplete?

Even though we put a lot of work into the content ourselves, we don’t know everything and don’t own every lightsaber.
