First impression
At first glance you can quickly see that the Count Dooku lightsaber turned out too thick, which makes the curved hilt look clumsy rather than elegant. The pommel ring in particular is oversized, which is unpleasantly noticeable.
This is partly made up for by the nice chrome finish and the black rubber grips.
Handling
Because of the curved hilt, handling this saber requires a slightly different technique than a normal, straight FX lightsaber.
Because the hilt is too thick, the Dooku can't be wielded quite as smoothly. But with a little practice you get used to the unusual shape of the saber, and many tricks can be done without any problems.
The balance isn't bad; you quickly get used to the weight distribution. The activator is very well integrated into the hilt. Unfortunately, accidentally switching it on or off during fast tricks still isn't uncommon.
Light and sound
The familiar Sith lightsaber sound comes through the speaker well and suits Count Dooku perfectly – a little quieter, but worthy of a Sith.
The blade glows a nice red and is just as bright as that of the other Sith lightsabers.
Wear
The lightsaber has no known wear parts. However, you should make sure the long protruding spike on the emitter doesn't take any hits. It could break or come loose, since it's only attached to the saber at one point.
Verdict
Unfortunately, Hasbro didn't solve the curved hilt the way you would have hoped.
The elegance of the Count Dooku FX lightsaber is severely impaired by the overly thick hilt.
This saber is definitely not recommended for beginners and is rather unsuitable for many tricks. For Count Dooku or FX fans who want to expand their collection with a curved energy weapon, however, the saber is certainly interesting.
