Back to the lightsaber

Note: Vintage review – this review is from an earlier version of our homepage and is correspondingly old!

First impression
At first glance, the Master Replicas Luke ROTJ FX lightsaber looks rather clumsy and lacking in detail.
The metal isn't as highly polished as on the original replica, and the copper is matte instead of shiny.

Handling
Even though the saber runs on 6 AA batteries, it's surprisingly light. That's mainly due to the aluminum used, which greatly reduces the weight.
It sits superbly in the hand, and the center of gravity is perfectly balanced. Here the thicker neck isn't a problem anymore, since it provides a good grip and offers enough room for your hand.
Your second hand fits comfortably at the lower end of the hilt. The activator is quite small, which is actually a plus. Accidental deactivation is almost impossible.

Light and sound
One of the brightest FX lightsabers. The green is very bright and luminous. None of the other Master Replicas sabers glows this brightly.
The sound module is from the 2005 generation, so it has the same sound as the Anakin or the Obi-Wan. However, the sound is a little more metallic, which can be explained by the different resonances of the materials. In total it has 4 clash and 3 swing sounds.

Wear
Even after regular use, the saber shows no signs of wear at all; only the adhesive foil on the clamp occasionally comes loose at one corner.
The brown paint below the emitter flakes off after frequent use. The speaker, however, is extremely sensitive.
If the saber falls, it can fail completely.
Because of the aluminum used, the hilt is more prone to dents and other dings than other FX lightsabers.
Unfortunately, this saber has a weak point at the blade mount, which can break even with lighter strikes.

Verdict
Apart from the flaws in its looks, it's simply a great FX saber.
The green of the blade alone justifies the investment. Disassembly is relatively easy and can be done quickly even by beginners.

Is the archive incomplete?

Even though we put a lot of work into the content ourselves, we don’t know everything and don’t own every lightsaber.
