Beschreibung
Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) hero lightsaber hilt from J. J. Abrams’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Known as the Skywalker lightsaber, this iconic weapon is one of the most important artifacts in the Star Wars saga, having been wielded across generations by Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, and Rey.
In The Force Awakens, the lightsaber resurfaced after being safeguarded for years by Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), a longtime ally of the Skywalker family. It ultimately came into Rey’s possession and was used by both Rey and Finn (John Boyega) during their climactic battle against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) on Starkiller Base. The film’s final moments hinged on this legendary object, as Rey journeyed to the remote world of Ahch-To and silently offered the lightsaber to Luke Skywalker, an image that marked the return of the Jedi Master and became one of the defining moments of the sequel trilogy.
From the outset, authenticity to the Original Trilogy was a guiding principle for the filmmakers. The original Skywalker lightsaber introduced in Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) was famously constructed from a Graflex three-cell flashgun, originally manufactured for 1940s press cameras. To preserve visual continuity and honor the legacy of the original films, the production of The Force Awakens sourced as many genuine Graflex components as possible, recreating the classic prop with meticulous attention to detail.
While the lightsaber’s design evolved slightly between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, this hero hilt represents a carefully considered hybrid of both versions. Multiple lightsabers were fabricated for the production, including stunt, illuminated, and visual-effects variants, each custom-made for specific filming requirements.
This hero lightsaber hilt incorporates a modified, genuine Graflex flash unit, with the „Graflex“ name still partially visible etched into the underside of the grip and a metal center band (without the Graflex logo seen in earlier incarnations of the hilt) added. The hilt is primarily constructed of aluminum and features a printed vintage-style circuit board, a D-ring and mount at the base, and black plastic „T“-track grips finished to closely match the appearance of the Original Trilogy lightsaber.
The lightsaber is accompanied by a custom-made display stand. It exhibits expected age and production handling, including minor scuffing and paint wear, most notably along the black „T“-track grips. Dimensions: 10.5″ x 2.25″ x 2.5″ (27 cm x 6 cm x 6.5 cm)
Estimate: $50,000 – 100,000
