Mace Windu’s (Samuel L. Jackson) hero lightsaber hilt from George Lucas‘ Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Jedi Master Windu wielded his distinctive purple lightsaber throughout the film, including during his battle with Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison) and the Separatist Droid Army. Jackson famously asked Lucas for a specialised purple lightsaber so Windu could stand out on screen. Despite some initial reluctance, Lucas agreed.
This lightsaber is a hero version which doesn’t have a duelling rod extending out of the hilt. This suggests it was designed for close ups and slower-paced scenes, such as council meetings at the Jedi Temple, or while Windu held his lightsaber to Fett’s neck on the planet Geonosis.
The lightsaber is crafted in resin and vacuum metalised with a mirror-chrome finish in silver and gold. It features a handle comprising strips of black rubber and two additional rubber sections, each with an intricately lined pattern. Dimensions: 27 cm x 4.5 cm x 4 cm (10.75″ x 1.75″ x 1.5″)
