Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) bladed duelling lightsaber from George Lucas‘ Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. After his first lightsaber was destroyed during the Battle of Geonosis in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Anakin wielded his newly-built lightsaber throughout the film, including during his climactic duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) on the fiery surface of Mustafar.

Anakin’s second lightsaber played a pivotal role in the Skywalker storyline. After the duel on Mustafar, Obi-Wan (Alec Guinness) passed it to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in Star Wars: A New Hope before it appeared again in the sequel trilogy, thereby connecting the nine-film saga.

This lightsaber, a duelling version, was constructed specifically for the film and features a different design to Anakin’s first lightsaber. While similar to the hero version, this piece lacks buttons or knobs and features a lowered neck area near the emitter in order for the actor to handle and spin the weapon during action sequences. Its cast resin handle is constructed around an aluminium sleeve into which the carbon fibre blade is inserted, enabling the actors to duel onset. The handle features a chrome-plated finish with grips painted black, as well as a threaded rod securing the upper and lower sections together at the blade’s base.

The blade itself is painted orange with a clear plastic sheath to prevent blade chips from causing injuries, all of which was digitally replaced with a glowing blue blade in post-production. This lightsaber exhibits scuffs and scratches throughout the handle, most visibly on the chrome finish, as well as small tears to the sheath, grime, and scratched-off paint on the blade.
