There have been lightsabers from Hasbro for purchase for a long time, but these were oversized and cheap plastic versions which had less to do with the elegant Jedi-weapon. After Master Replicas didn't renew the license from Lucasfilm Ltd. in 2007 Hasbro adopted the production of the high-quality FX-lightsabers.
Hasbro quickly got rid of the skepticism about the quality of the FX-lightsabers because they first built the same sabers as Master Replicas again. There were just a few changes at the packing and parts of the sabers. Hasbro began cautiously building their own lightsabers which were not available before for example some models like Count Dooku from "Revenge of the Sith" and Obi-Wan Kenobi from "The Phantom Menance".
Long-standing and grown-up fans just don't get their money worth because Hasbro concentrates more on a cheaper variety of the well-known FX-lightsabers since 2011 - the so called Ultimate FX-lightsabers for children.
