Luke Skywalker ROTJ Force FX Lightsaber (Generation 3)
First Impression:
At first glance the Luke ROTJ FX Lightsaber seems quite clumsy and not detailed. Comparing it to the Limited Edition at first the thicker neck and hilft attract attention. The metal is not as burnished as the original replica and the copper is not agleam but matt. On the emiter the overlaying element with the screw is missing.
Handling:
Although the saber runs with 6 AA batteries, it is amazingly light. The reason is the use of aluminium which reduced the weight intensely. The hilft feels good in the hand and the emphasis is chosen very well. Now the thicker neck is not disturbing, it ensures a good grip and much space for the hand. The second hand lasts at the lower end of the hilt. The activator is quite small but this strikes positively. The possibility of deactivating the saber accidentally is almost excluded.
Light and Sound:
The green color is amazing and very bright. No other FX lightsaber except for the Yoda is gleaming more intensely. This is mainly explained by the fact that the green color is catched by the human eye much better the other colors. The soundmodul is from 2005, the sound is similar to the Anakin and Obi Wan. But the sound is more metallic which is explained through the resonace of the different materials. It has four Clash- and three Swingsounds at one’s disposal.
Wearout:
After regular use there are no marks of wearout, only the adhesive foil comes off at the clamp from time to time. The brown painting beneath the Emitter flakes off with the time. The speaker is very sensitive. If the saber falls down it can fail completely. Because this saber is made from Aluminium, it´s more prone for dents than other FX. Unfortunately there is a predetermined breaking point at the blade attachment of this saber, which can even break trough soft strikes (We have already lost three sabers).
Conclusion:
This saber is worthy it costs. If one put aside the rough edges in the optics it is just a wonderful FX lightsaber. The green color only justifies buying it. The disassembly is easy and can be done by laymen as well. This saber have only a version with LED strip. The FX version officially released before October 2005.
Resulting Mark: 9/10
