Count Dooku ROTS - High Power LED Conversion
[ Back ]

To convert the saber one needs to work like this:
  • Luxeon 3W/Seoul P4 LED
  • Lense and lense holder
  • Heat conductive glue/pads
  • Wires
  • Shrunk tubes
  • Soldering iron and solder
  • Blade holder (TCSS)
  • M4-screws without head
  • Thread cutter M4
Use this tutorial after you disassembled the hilt! CLICK!
  1. First of all separate the LED-strip from the wires Picture 1
  2. Now shorten the wires. Brown, red, orange, yellow, green and blue should have the same length. They need to be soldered together as well as the violet wire with the one of the clash sensor. Picture 2 and Picture 3
  3. Furthermore the LED is glued onto the heat sink of the blade holder with the heat conductive glue or pad. The wires are soldered on as well; they are pushed through the provided holes within the heat sink Picture 4
  4. The wires, which already are attached to each other (brown, red, orange, yellow, green and blue), are soldered on the cable of the LED's negative pole. Do not forget the shrunk tubes! Picture 5 and Picture 3
  5. This is the right moment to run a test. So just attach the plug on the soundboard again, press the battery pack against the contacts and switch on the saber. Picture 6
  6. If the test has been positive the plug is removed one more time so the shrunk tubes can be fixed.
  7. Now the lense holder with the lense is mounted onto the LED and the heat sink is screwed into the blade holder Picture 7 and Picture 8
  8. The blade holder can now be attached into the saber. In doing so there is only one opportunity and no chance to make a mistake Picture 9
  9. After that the saber can simply be closed and fixed with the screws Picture 10
  10. The emitter has to be attached again as well. There is only one opportunity, too Picture 11
  11. Finally a thread needs to be cut through the saber body, the emitter and the blade holder. Picture 12
  12. One of the screws without a head is to be shortened so far that it does not get into the blade holder anymore, if it is screwed into the saber afterwards. Picture 13, Picture 14 and Picture 15
  13. Annotation: Two screws are delivered with the blade holder, but those do not fit into a M4 thread.
  14. The grips need to be cleaned from all rests of glue (important!) and then are glued onto their original positions Picture 16
  15. Now only the battery pack and the pommel need to be attached again. Finished! Picture 17 und Picture 18
